Unlimited Curricular Titles
Thanks to a generous grant from the Winchester Foundation for Educational Excellence, during the 2013-2014 school year,  each of the Winchester elementary school librarians purchased a number of ebooks.  These are books that can be accessed via computer, iPad*, iPhone, Kindle Fire or any device with an internet connection and Adobe Flash.  Many of these books are unlimited use books which means that more than one person can read them and/or check them out at a time.  These new ebooks are  ideal for teaching research skills, note taking, creating citations as well as pointing out the elements of non-fiction books.

During the 2014-2015 school year, WFEE  provided an additional grant so that we could add digital audiobooks to our collection.  Many of these titles were requested by classroom teachers and can be used in literary circles, reading groups, etc.  In addition, students can enjoy these for their own pleasure "reading" and can download to their home devices by using their personal login.  They can pause the book which will hold their place on their home device.  Once they "check out" a title, students have 7 days to read the book.  If they finish early, they can "return" the book (which allows someone else to enjoy it).  If they forget, the system automatically removes the title after the 7 day check out period.  Books cannot be renewed, but can be checked out again later.

A sampling of titles include:
     Mercy Watson by Kate DiCamillo
     Amelia Bedelia by Herman Parrish
Henry and Mudge by Cynthia Rylant
     Charlotte's Web by E.B. White
The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

There is a generic login that can be used (Login: lincoln  Password:  student), but for students to get be able to download the titles, they will need to use their new GAFE login with their lunch code as password (feel free to contact me if your child has forgotten either code)

In order to find our ebooks, here are a couple of tutorials to help you along.  These screencasts are already a little old, but provide the information you need to get started:
